Taper
Tube Molds: Darning needles are not
long enough to wick a taper mold, you will have to make
a wicking tool. Use a piece of thin wire approximately
5 inches longer than the taper mold and fashion an eye
(twist a loop) on the end. Place the wicking through the
eye. Remove the "T" pin at the bottom of the
mold, insert the end of the wicking tool in the hole and
pull the wicking through the hole. You will discover the
wicking process to be quite a job so make sure you leave
an ample supply of wicking at the bottom of the mold. Use
the "T" pin to hold wick in place. Leave enough
wick extended from top of the mold so you can easily pull
out the candle. Securely brace the taper mold so that it
will not fall over. I suggest using a paper towel roll.
Allow wax to harden - time required will vary with
size of the mold. Remove bobby pin and rubber bands, open
the mold and remove the candle. Clip the wick approximately
1" longer than the candle. If needed, trim the base
and/or seams with a paring knife.
Ornament
Molds (Single Sided Molds):
These molds
can be used with wax, plaster or soap. Make sure your
ornament hangers; (ribbon, cord, etc.) are pre-cut and ready
to use before pouring the ornaments. The wax hardens quickly.
Pearlizer can be applied to hardened wax and plaster.
