The Saskatraz Breeding Process

Recurrent natural selection is at the heart of the Saskatraz breeding process. This approach ensures that each bee in your package has superior varroa tolerance.

These bees come from lines that maintain prosperity even under pressure, augmenting your hive’s economic viability. You’re not only welcoming bees into your hive but becoming a part of an evolutionary journey towards healthier bee populations.

Order and Shipping Details

Our bee packages are available while supplies last. The price includes shipping. For USPS shipping, packages will require pickup at your local post office.

We’ll contact you with a shipment date and provide tracking information once the bees are shipped. Cancellations are not accepted within 14 days of the bees’ estimated ship date.

Package bee orders are prepaid and are subject to a $10 change or cancellation fee after the prepayment has been processed.

By purchasing, you’re agreeing to our Bee Policy.

Bee Insurance

There is always a risk when shipping live animals, so Mann Lake includes insurance with the purchase of every shipped package. Any package with 1 ½” or more of dead bees spread evenly on the bottom of the package is eligible for a refund or replacement. To file a claim, simply submit a photo of the shipping label and the package showing more than 1 ½” of dead bees on the bottom of the package when spread evenly across the bottom via our website Package Bee Help. We make every effort to ship replacements, if available, on the earliest ship date possible. If we are unable to accommodate a replacement, a refund will be issued within 7-10 business days of submission.

Shipping Information

The ship date selected indicates the day your packages are processed for shipping. You will receive tracking information via email. Tracking may not show movement until Monday and your bees will arrive at your local post office for pickup by mid-week.

USPS does not handle live bees the same way as regular parcels. Tracking information can be tricky with bees.

  • Orders typically reach you ahead of the USPS estimated delivery date indicated in the tracking details.
  • Tracking information might not always reflect real-time updates, be fully comprehensive, or entirely precise. There's no need to worry if it seems like your package isn't moving forward.
  • Tracking information is supplied by USPS. While we strive to assist, we cannot guarantee the accuracy of tracking statuses and do not have access to any tracking details beyond what is available on USPS.com.

    Saskatraz Bee Package

by CYLE WOOTEN on May 09, 2025

They shipped the two packages I purchased on 5-3-25. They arrived that Monday 5-5-25. I watched a video on installing these type of packages. Never seen it done till that Monday. Getting the queen out of the package went well. The queen was moving around frantically in the cage. When she started to move away from the cork, I tried removing the cork. She turned back around unexpectedly to me and was clipped by the cork. The way she was doubled over, I thought I was going to loose her. I immediately ordered an extra queen just in case. After that, the rest of the installation for this package and the other went well. Today, opening the hive to remove the queen cage, I found the queen alive and well. But she didn't get released. So I released her by hand. I did a small split with the extra queen I purchased. I like the package cages, but not the queen cages. If they'd have used a regular candy release cage, I would of probably given them a 5 star rating. But until the change their queen cages that come with these bee packages, I feel they deserve a 3 star rating. I made a review someplace else giving them a 2 star, not knowing the queen survived. When I find it I'll upgrade it to a 3. There were 2 other ratings. One was a 5, excellent review. The 2nd was a 3 star mentioning problematic queen cage. So obviously I am not alone in my opinion of their queen cages that come with these packages. My issue with their queen cage is you open the cage by removing the cork on the one end. You then need to place marshmallow into the hole. You twice risk the queen escaping. And sadly in my case being injured.

    First Package of Bees

by MICHAEL DRAKE on May 08, 2025

Received the 3lb package at the local post office. The bees were clustered around the queen and syrup can. Very few dead bees maybe 50 to 100? Installed the bees in a Layans hive with 50% wax foundations. The next day they were busy drawing out the comb and doing their orientation flights. Feeding them 1:1 sugar syrup from a rapid round feeder for at least one week to help them along. Will check after one week for eggs. This is my first package in my only hive so far so good.

Wow what a great package of bees, only a few dead bees and queen that was already accepted. They have been very gentle bees. I am looking forward to how they will preform in my area. Would buy from here again!!!!!
