What to Feed Bees in Fall for Winter Health

In the fall, feed bees a thick sugar syrup (2:1 ratio of sugar to water) to help them store food efficiently for winter. Once temperatures drop below 50°F (10°C), switch to solid feeds like fondant or candy boards since bees can’t process liquid food in the cold.

Consider adding pollen patties for protein to support brood rearing and ensure the colony is strong for spring. Regularly check honey stores to ensure each colony has 60-90 lbs of honey.
